dept motor vehicles maryland

does anyone know anything about an amnesty for parking tickets in maryland?

I think the Dept. of Motor Vehicles holds one every couple years, but they dont tell you when. It’s when they waive all the penalties that have acrued on outstanding tickets just for about a week. You bring the ticket to DMV during that week & just pay the original amount. I have a $42 ticket my brother got in my car 2yrs ago & has hidden from me, that is over $800 now.

Last one I know anything about was September of 2003 in Baltimore. As you said, they don’t announce it in advance.

And the DMV isn’t the one who does it, they aren’t into parking enforcement or collecting fines.

So what happens to people who don’t pay up?

Once it finds them, Baltimore City aggressively boots and impounds cars with three or more outstanding tickets. The county works through notices, collection agencies and the courts.

If you only have one, it’s isn’t too much of a worry. You might call the court and see if you can work something out due to not knowing about it.

Good luck.
